POLYMER MS ADHESIVES

APPLICATIONS WAKOL MS ADHESIVES

Wakol is one of the few adhesive manufacturers that can genuinely call its one-component elastic adhesives “MS”. This is because they work with the MS raw material supplier Kaneka. This Japanese supplier has a patent on these raw materials as they are probably the best raw materials available in the market. There are many more variants in MS than in PU adhesives and there are also many bold claims made by certain companies.

Many adhesive manufacturers have elastic adhesives in their range and some suggest that they can be used with almost no limitations. This is not an accurate description of all elastic adhesives and there are big differences depending on exactly what is to be installed and the standards the adhesive must achieve. As an example, we would not recommend installing solid planks with a very elastic adhesive. Due to the influence of heat and / or air humidity, the wood will likely move. If the adhesive is too elastic, the planks may have a tendency to move accordingly. Large gaps can appear between the boards or the boards may start to dish / cup. The floor will no longer look as it did on the day of installation.

With Wakol adhesives, (In general terms) the higher the number, the lower the elasticity and the higher the resistance to movement. It is also important that the correct adhesive is used in conjunction with the correct finish. That’s why we have Connected Systems from Wakol and Loba. We have seen problems occur in some competitive installations when an MS adhesive comes into contact with the lacquer or oil finish and black edges may appear. This is due to a chemical interaction between the finish and the adhesive. Therefore, avoiding gaps and limiting this possibility is essential to eradicating this problem. With most Wakol MS adhesives in combination with most Loba finishing products the potential for issues is significantly reduced.

All MS adhesives have an EC1 + label at Wakol and are suitable for underfloor heating.

WAKOL MS228 PARQUET ADHESIVE, ELASTIC

This elastic MS adhesive is suitable for all composite (engineered) wooden floors on both absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces. This means that this adhesive is also suitable for gluing on a tile floor that has been properly degreased. The tile floor must also be sanded in such a way that noticeable and visible scratches have arisen. Finally, the tile floor must be firmly attached to the substrate and there must be a guarantee that no rising moisture is present.

This MS product is available in 18 kg containers that are provided with an aluminum foil seal, so that no moisture can encounter the product. This way, a shelf life of 18 months can be guaranteed. Consumption: approximately 800 to 1500 gr / m2 depending on the exact installation. As an exception the consumption would be between 1700 to 1800 gr / m2 when using the special glue spreader (special glue spreader 5 is suitable for placing a moisture barrier to suppress up to 4% residual moisture on cement screeds without underfloor heating). The open time is approximately 40 minutes. Wakol MS228 can be used in conjunction with Wakol MS330 moisture barrier or Wakol D3055 universal primer.

WAKOL MS230 PARQUET ADHESIVE, ELASTIC

This elastic MS adhesive is suitable for all composite (engineered) floors, mosaic and high-side slats (min. 16mm thick and 200mm long) and thick strips (80mm wide and max. 600mm long) on both absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces. This means that this adhesive is also suitable for gluing on a tile floor that has been properly degreased. The tile floor must also be sanded in such a way that noticeable and visible scratches have been created. Finally, the tile floor must be firmly attached to the substrate and there must be a guarantee that no rising moisture is present.

WAKOL MS262

This viscous, elastic MS adhesive is suitable for all composite (engineered) floors, high-side slats (min 22mm thick and 200mm long) and 22 mm solid parquet in oak on both absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces. This means that this adhesive is also suitable for gluing on a tiled floor that has been properly degreased. The tile floor must also be sanded in such a way that noticeable and visible scratches have arisen. Finally, the tile floor must be firmly attached to the substrate and there must be a guarantee that no rising moisture is present.

This MS product is available in 600cc foil sausages and is packed as 12 per box. Therefore ideal to apply with the appropriate adhesive gun. The open time is approximately 40 minutes. Wakol MS262 can be used in conjunction with Wakol PU280 and MS330 moisture barrier as well as Wakol D3055 universal primer.

WAKOL MS260 PARQUET ADHESIVE, HARD ELASTIC

This hard elastic MS adhesive is suitable for all composite (engineered) floors, mosaic and high side slats (min 16mm thick and 200mm long) and thick strips (80mm wide and max. 600 mm long), 10 mm solid parquet and solid parquet up to 18 cm wide and for oak up to 20 cm width as well as end grain RE / RW, flat cork floors and cork floors with HDF / MDF center core and cork back on both absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces.
