INTRODUCTION

During this 4-day course we focus on the correct application of WAKOL moisture suppressants, primers, levelling compound, wood flooring adhesive and an introduction to LOBA finishing lacquers. We also included in-depth subfloor preparation and installation of wood flooring, border work and basic sanding. By completion of the course you’ll receive a certificate of completion and you will be rewarded with a Wakol gift voucher for £250 to spend on Wakol products.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE COURSE?

Day 1 (9.00am – 5.30pm)

  • Health & Safety
  • Different sub-floors and their construction explained
  • Anhydrite / Calcium Sulphate preparation
  • Reading moisture in solid sub-floors to BS8203 & 8201(range of equipment used)
  • Applying moisture suppressants (Wakol 280 PU & 330 MS)
  • Applying primers to porous and non-porous subfloors (Wakol 3045 & 3035)

Lunch break (supplied by FloorSkills)

  • Applying smoothing compounds to solid and timber-based sub-floors (Wakol Z520 & Z626)
  • Plywood installation to timber sub-floors
  • Templating skills

Day 2 (9.00am – 4.30pm)

  • Wood Science
  • Reading moisture in timber subfloor and wood flooring
  • Set out for Herringbone

Lunch break (supplied by FloorSkills)

  • Correct application of wood flooring adhesives (Wakol MS260)
  • Installing Herringbone
  • Creating scribe jigs for diagonal cuts to walls

Day 3 (9.00am – 4.30pm)

  • Set out for Chevron real wood flooring
  • Installing Chevron real wood flooring
  • Block borders

Lunch Break (supplied by FloorSkills)

  • Cut back methods for borders
  • Installing borders


Day 4 (9.00am – 4.30pm)

  • Introduction to sanding and finishing real wood flooring
  • Operational safety
  • Machine types and set up
  • Abrasive selection & technology
  • Lecol 7500 wood filler application

Lunch break (supplied by FloorSkills)

  • Final sanding stages
  • Stain application
  • Lacquer or oil application
  • Maintenance and aftercare
